My very first musician to be interviewed on my website is Levi Hart who sings country music. We spoke over the phone on a Friday night, and I’ll say he was a pleasure to speak to. He is French Canadian, and he’s from the French Province of Quebec. As he was growing up, he spent most of his weekends and summers at his grandparents’ farm. One of his biggest influences in his music career is his family where there was always music; he has eight uncles and aunts who were all musicians. He started singing, writing songs and playing semi-acoustic guitar at young age of 14.
He’s performed at the Canadian Country Music Awards and has also played numerous times at the Nashville Bluebird Cafe. He will be recording his third album this June.
His voice has a very smooth and deep soulful sound to it, and I’ve never heard anything like it before. I was hooked on the first song I listened to “Set It Free.”
He will be performing at the Serenity Point Fundraiser in June in Nashville.
Here’s my interview with Levi Hart whose music comes straight from his HEART…
Maria- Who taught you to play guitar and to sing?
Levi- No one taught me how to play or sing or write. It all came from watching friends and family and trial and error. Music is an integral part of my family.
Maria- Do you love singing and playing the guitar?
Levi- I do. The moment you stop loving what you do, you’re in trouble.
Maria- How do you write a song?
Levi- I have to feel it. I have to be connected to it because I won’t write a song unless there’s a story or lesson to be shared. There are emotions and feelings that I want to convey through my music as well.
Maria- Do you write all your songs?
Levi- 99% of them.
Maria- Do you have a favorite singer?
Levi- Garth Brooks. I respect him as a musician and performer.
Maria- Any artist you would like to sing with or work with?
Levi- Keith Urban, I would love to write some songs with him.
Maria- Where do you see yourself in a year? Do you set goals for upcoming year?
Levi- Just to be happy no matter what I’m doing. I believe you have to set goals, and don’t stress over it. You know push forward and go for it. Remember, there’s no rewind button in life, there is only play.
Maria- From what I’ve read, you enjoy reading. What do you enjoy reading?
Levi- Anything that is positive and motivational. It’s important to educate the mind. I do enjoy a good thriller from authors like Dean Koontz. A book that’s a favorite of mine is “The Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure” by James Redfield.
Maria- I enjoy sharing inspiring and motivational quotes with my readers. Do you have any you would like to share?
Levi- “Happiness comes from being able to love who you truly are as a person with all your faults and all your traits’. Here’s another one “Live for today, but plan for tomorrow.”
Maria- Final question, who’s your biggest fan?
Levi- My daughter is my biggest fan and the sweetest child in the world.
There’s so much more I could share with you from our interview. Levi is not only a musician, but he also mentors others musicians as well. He has a blog on his website, and I encourage you to read it.
